【アメリカ軍兵士記念盤
　＠広島】

　広島の町を歩いて
いると時たま、第二次
大戦、それも原爆の
記念碑などに出くわ
したりすることがある。

　これは、そんな記念
のものの一つ。
　市内　基町の県庁
近くの裏通り、あるビル
の壁にはめ込まれた
銅製の記念盤だ。

　板のカタチがゆがんで見えるのは、下から見上げて
携帯カメラで撮ったから。

　これによると、アメリカ軍兵士が広島の警察署に
収監されていて、原爆投下で犠牲になった、という
ことのようだ。
　TALOA とか、LONE SOME LADY という表題の
集合写真も見える。爆撃機の名前らしい。

　盤に書かれていた原文は、次のようなもの。

　Site of Former Chugoku Military Police Headquarter.

 The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima August 6,
1945 devastated the city and its people with a force
beyond ever known before.
 U.S.Air Force and U.S. Navy airmen interned as POWs
at the Chugoku Military Police Headquarters which
was located at this site, near the epicenter, were
among the victims of this holocaust.
 This plaque is placed in the memory of these brave
and honorable men.
 May this humble memorial be a perpetual reminder
of the savagery of war.
